Mother Mercury is an independent publishing company with a focus on feminist, queer, and folk literature. Established in New Orleans, 2023; we strive to produce work that represents an inclusive and supportive community. Our passion for storytelling is partnered with a drive for social change, and through the transformative power of language, we aim to help heal, challenge, and activate a global audience. Alongside contemporary and classic narrative fiction, Mother Mercury publishes ‘folkademic’ literature that presents accessible non-fiction material, specifically relating to the history and practice of philosophy, gender, magik, and music. This is a publishing house for voices that promote a culture of empathy, connection, and creativity through the written word.

Workshops:
Launching later in 2024, Mother Mercury will be partnering with The Roundhouse in North London to host a four-part zine making workshop. Structured to include both analog and digital layout techniques, the course will be hands-on and cover everything from the history of fanzines, to experimenting with alternative printing processes and binding options. By the end of the workshop, everyone involved will have contributed to a collaborative zine, showcasing the work and interests of all the participants. Viva la DIY self-publishing!
